Hi, Kerryann, I love my iPad mini. I use it every day. But, if I had to choose between it and my MacBook Air, I would definitely go with the Mac. It’s faster, and imho, using the keyboard on the Mac is much more efficient, in terms of the number of keystrokes required to accomplish a specific task, than using a bluetooth keyboard with an iPad. I think the iPad is most efficient if you use a combination of keyboard and touch screen. For example, to move from a message back to the message list in mail often takes two/three keystrokes, whereas, I can do it with one touch if I just reach over and touch the message list. That definitely takes some getting used to, which speaks to Brad’s point about the Mac being most similar to what you are used to with your Mac.
Currently I use my iPad with a Mantis Q40. But when I had a 9-inch 6th-gen iPad, I used a Logitech keyboard. It worked quite well, and came with a carrying case that held both the keyboard and the iPad, so if you decide to go the iPad route, I would definitely suggest that you check out what options Logitech offers.
