Unless you want to also run Windows on your Mac, i.e. in a virtual
machine, I'd definitely go for some version of the M1 currently on
offer. Or, wait to see what's released in a few months--which is what
I'm doing myself.

My current laptop is an 11 inch model Mac Air. I doubt Apple will again
release a model that small, but until we see what they release, we won't
know for sure. My personal preference in laptops, since I can't use the
screen at all, is the smallest model physically, loaded up with as much
RAM as it will support, and preferably also as much disk as it will
support.
