Hello Dan, Speaking an initial capital letter separately from the word happens in HTML e-mails. Apple is aware of this problem. However, you can fix it by going into Mail preferences and selecting the Composing tab. Set the message format to Plain Text and all will be well.
I've no idea why changing the Compose Message format should work, but it does.
