No, Chrome and Edge use the same basic engine, but might use slightly different
ways to communicate with VoiceOver.
Firefox uses a third web rendering tool.
I am truly amazed at this complaint, I have 7 year old Macintosh running the
latest MacOS, and find Safari and VoiceOver are generally working better
together than when I first got the computer.
That being said, websites that are using a lot of JavaScript to move items
around visually or constantly update a panel with new items are often
problematic with VoiceOver. Also, some sites will provide more information
about a point on the screen when the mouse is moved over that point. If Mouse
follows VoiceOver cursor is on for these sites, then there might be a delay as
the additional information is populated from the DOM to the AOM to VoiceOver.
You can create a Macintosh activity to temporarily change Mouse follows
behavior, for these sites.
