Once you open the the image, it will put you in Icon view. VO right to the VLC file and do a Command C to copy. Do a Command Shift A to bring up the apps folder and Command V to paste. Hit V for VLC and bring up your context menu with VO Shift M. Go down to Open. If you don’t see an open button after you do that, hit Cancel and repeat the VO Shift M process.
