If you look in the menus, you'll see that Command-l is the command for logging into an account. What might've happened is that the command you were given sounded like Command-l but it was actually Command-Del or Command-Delete, had it been spelled out completely. Just a hunch. Further, I'm not suggesting that the Command-Delete will actually work. I'm only referring to the intelligibility of the text within the message.
