Alternatively, I have a keyboard shortcut set up to open text edit on the Mac. For me, that shortcut is right option D. You could do something similar. Have a Shortcuts set up to open TextEdit and then hit command end to open a new document. I realize it isn’t quite as seamless as what you are looking for, but it seems like you could get it up and running fairly quickly.
