Hello Herbie,
When you say “complete reset” what exactly do you mean? The iPhone 8 contains 
lots of Apps and data which will be useful to my relative. For example my 
navigation and Books Apps and my  list of contacts and my calendar. I do not 
want to reset the iPhone 8 to factory settings as I would then have to reload 
all these Apps and recreate all the data. That looks like a lot of work.
So instead I have deleted sensitive Apps, my Email accounts,  and sensitive 
Safari bookmarks. I now just want to ensure that my relative cannot tinker with 
my iCloud Drive files or purchase Apps on my credit card. That is why I want 
him to use his AppleID rather than my AppleID.
I am rather unclear what types of reset are possible and whether I can achieve 
the above.
