Hi Donna,

You probably know about these, but Amazon’s got a whole bunch of chargers that
accept two USB ports for charging, and you can charge your iPhone two or three
times between replenishing the charger. I bought this charger
<https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CZDXDG8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1>
from them about a year ago, but then just this past week I heard about this
more accessible charger
<https://www.atguys.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=378>
that’s on a bit of a sale thru A T Guys. It looks like it does exactly the
same thing as the Amazon one, but I like the idea of knowing what the battery
level in the charger is any time I need to know.

Huh. This is interesting. It did get one last update either early this week
or late last. However, I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to run the battery down
all morning. I’ve been playing videos, streaming music, playing games, running
the Sonos app—which is always a battery drainer—and it’s still chugging along.

You’ve given me something to think about, though. The reason I’ve been paying
attention to this is that I have a road trip coming up, so was going to use it
to play an audio book in the car. I also have an iPhone 12 mini that I
couldn’t trade in because it has a tiny chip at the very top. Now I’m
wondering if I should just take the 12 instead. I’d rather take the 7, because
if anything happened to it, I wouldn’t care that much. But I also don’t want
it to die halfway through the trip.

Cheers,

Donna

You can blame Apple for that problem.

When they move to next phone and drop one on the update list. That phone will
get one last update. That update kills the battery.

My brother replaced the battery in a iPhone 6 with new battery, and it still
says the same for the battery and dies every night.

My 4s wont even take a charge, iPod 4gen has to stay plugged in or its dead,
and iPhone 8 states at 75%, but still dies even if turned off.

Apple don't want anyone reusing there phones for anything but a phone now.

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone can answer this, but I thought I’d give it a try.

I have an old iPhone 7 that I basically use as an iPod. I use it for reading
books, playing music, and so forth. I unplug it at night so that I can plug my
current actual iPhone in to charge. When I wake up in the morning, the iPhone
7 says it is at 0% battery. Given that the phone is 8 years old, that’s not
surprising. What is surprising is that when I ignore the low battery warning,
the phone keeps going. I’ve tested this for as long as 30 minutes. So I’m
wondering if the battery percentage is incorrect. Anyone know if there’s a way
to test this, and if I’m right, to recalibrate it?
TIA,
Donna
