Hello,
A friend recently left his iPhone 8 running IOS 16.5 behind in a location. He
thought it had been stolen and so used Find Devices on his MacBook Air to
delete all data and settings on that phone. He later got the phone back and
restored it all from his iCloud backup. It all worked fine on wifi but he had
no mobile network service. He tried a SIM which worked OK in a different iPhone
and that SIM also did not work on the recovered iPhone. The recovered iPhone
recognised the SIM to the extent that the phone settings displayed the correct
phone number associated with that SIM.
Any ideas on what might have happened and what to do to enable the recovered
iPhone to access the mobile network?
In case it is relevant all SIMs use the Giffgaff network.
Many thanks for any help … Paul Hopewell
