Hi,

Sorry if I was confusing. I'm talking about that when I activate the edit field I can type using braille screen input but the onscreen keyboard is often hidden. This causes issues because if I'm in Safari trying to get to a web page for example I can type the web address but since there is no keyboard the go button doesn't show up. If I'm in an app that has some kind of search type button that doesn't appear because the keyboard is hidden.

I hope that helps clarify the issue.

Dave,
Confused. Why or where is it necessary to have the on screen keyboard show when there is no active edit field? Not sure I understand.

hi,

Yes, I've always had the keyboard show up whenever an edit field is active also. This is new behavior.  I forgot to mention that I have rebooted my phone and that brings back the keyboard but that seems to only be temporary.

Thanks,

Gabe

Try turning off bluetooth on the iPhone.
This should help determine if the issue has to do with a bluetooth device.

I would think the keyboard should show up whenever there is an edit field and it is active. I have not seen this behavior with iOS 17.1.1. Also iPhone 14 Pro.

Hello all,

Ever since I updated to iOS 17 I have been having an issue where my on screen keboard doesn't show up on my iPhone 14 Pro. I Thought it might be an iOS 17 thing or have to do with my having a couple of different braille displays connected but my fiance just got a new 14 Pro yesterday and is occasionally having the same issue and she most definitely doesn't have any keyboards or braille displays connected to her phone

Does anyone have any thoughts on what would cause this and how to get the keyboard to show up? I generally use braille screen input so can get around it when typing but it makes things quite difficult for things like getting to a web site or performing a product search in apps.

Thanks,

Gabe
