Oh, I forgot, Anker makes great hubs. Their ten-port 65-watt hub is
compact and has not only seven active powered USB 3 ports, but three
more just for charging--i.e., not connected to the computer at the other
end. I have two of these--one on my desk for various things connected to
my own Mini, and one in my computing go-bag with lots of cables for when
I go out on repair jobs and sometimes training.

Lorie,
If the Mini from today is anything like mine from 2020, it has two
USB-A ports and two USB-C/Thunderbolt ports, all along the back just
above the heat dissipation vent, with the HDMI port in between. By the
way, if you're not going to be using your Mini with a monitor, get
yourself a Fit Headless donble for that HDMI port. Costs about five
dollars. It's just a couple electronic components inside a can that
make your Mini think there's a monitor plugged into it when there
isn't one. You are correct, though, that there is no SD card slot.
Another thing they took away is the power lamp. The Mini I got in 2012
had a bright red LED power indicator on the front edge. The new ones
don't.

I just got a new Mac Mini. there are some things about it that are different
from my old one. I can't find an sd card slot. does it have one? also there are
only 2 usb ports and I need at least 3. I'll probably have to get a usb hub.
what kind do I need?
there are some other little ports on it and I have no idea what they're for.
thanks.
