I have been using a keyboard made by Iclever that I bought at Amazon. It is very nice, has a row of number keys at the top. It folds in from each side and is quite small almost small enough for a large hip pocket. The charge lasts a very long time, and I am very satisfied with it. The number row at the top is slightly more to the right than you would anticipate but otherwise it is very functional and I use it to take notes with. I am as good on this keyboard as my Mac keyboard. just search for the brand name and you will find mini model

Hi!
The Focus 40 works very well on the Mac.
I have the one without braille keys.
Be aware though that there are glitches with braille functionality on the Mac.
At least for me.
I don’t like the menu button on the focus and the width of the display.
I would love to have the new Helptech activator.

All:
I picked up an iPad mini 6th gen 256GB tablet for myself on Thanksgiving.
Merry Christmas to me! LOL.
I'm loving it.
Since a 14 cell Braille display is currently not in my budget, can anyone
recommend a portable keyboard that I can use with my new iPad? Something I
can carry for travel as well.

I personally like the Logitech K3 80. It has nice keys.
There's also another one called logitech keys to go, but for me that one's too squishy.

Hi Sarai,
Before I got my Mantis, I used a Logitech keyboard, sorry can’t remember the model number. But I was very happy with it. I also have an iClever keyboard. It’s nice in that it’s very portable, but the keys are kind of small, and it folds in the middle, which can make using it in your lap a little tricky. But if you want something small that will fit in a purse, it’s not a bad choice.
Cheers,
Donna

Hello Sarai.
I was quite happy with my Logetech K380 as well, but I think it would
take a larger purse to carry it around. The iClever Tri-fold keyboards
are decent, but like Donna said, the keys are kind of small. That
said, they have to be more small to fit in that physical form factor.
Best,
Scott

Hello,
I am running the latest Ventura on my 2017 iMac.
I normally use the numeric keyboard to move the VoiceOver cursor. This works fine except when I am in an edit box. Then pressing say the 5 key on the numeric keyboard enters the digit 5 in the edit field. This did not happen in the past. What can I do to fix it?
Many thanks … Paul Hopewell

I’ve been having trouble clicking buttons on websites using Safari on my new Mac. I can have the button in focus. I even press vo-command-f5 to make sure I’m really there but I try to. click it and nothing happens. I click using vo-space as I always have. what setting might I need to check in the vo utility to facilitate this action? I’ve tried it on a couple of sites sith no luck so I don’t think it’s just that one site.
thanks.

Check what your cursor tracking setting is at.
VO-shift-F3 I have had issues when this is not on.
Also, VO-SPace is a “activate” which is quite similar to a click but is not a click. You can try VO-Shift-space to force a mouse click. I believe with VO-space you don’t need to be concerned about mouse location, but with vo-shift-space you do

In VoiceOver Utility -> Sound, is the output device set to system
default? If not, that's your problem.

Well, I implied the M2 vs M3 debate.
Right now only Mac Book Pros have the M3 series of chips, the AIR still come with M2.
The MacBookPro do have a display that is twice as bright if you have vision that can take advantage of that.
All of the MacBooks’s power buttons double as touch ID, so if you have enough dexterity to use the power button then you shouldn’t need to have touch ID on the keyboard.
That being said, if you are not traveling with the computer then getting a MacMini might be a good idea. You can hook up a very inexpensive display or the Studio display and get as powerful a system without paying for a keyboard and/or display that you don’t plan to use.
Generally, unless you manage what’s is open on your system, having more shared memory will be more important than additional cores which is what the M3 is giving you.
If you are doing sound processing or visual processing then you might need the extra processing of the M3. If you are doing eMail and Web browsing or small business accounting, I would expect putting the cost difference between a AIR with M2 and a Pro with M3 would better be placed in shared memory or additional storage.
Best wishes,
Jonathan Cohn

Well, I decided on the MacBook Pro with M3 and a 16 GB memory upgrade. But then I noticed that I couldn't get it for 2 1/2 weeks whereas the base models were all available that day. So, I made an emotional decision and upgraded to the MacBook Pro with M3 Pro which has 18 gig unified ram. Yes, I went ahead and made an emotional decision and bought because I wanted it that day. Anyway, it's a great machine probably more than I need, but that's OK too. I do do some sound processing and I just like the MacBook Pro over the air. So far I'm pretty happy with it I finally got everything installed the way I like it and it's gonna be a great machine I can tell.

Jonathan, thanks for answering. Do you have anything more substantial to say about the reasons why you would suggest the air over the MacBook Pro? For example how about my question concerning the M2 chip in the MacBook Air versus the M3 chip in the MacBook Pro? And also about the touch ID sensor on the external keyboards?

I would suggest getting a top of the line AIR instead of a base model MacBook Pro. They should be about the same price but the additional memory and storage will probably be more beneficial then Ray tracing or a few more cores in the processor.
But then I'm still running a 2015 Mac Book Air 11.

I currently use a MacBook Air 2013 and maybe it's the season, but I'm thinking of upgrading. I'm looking at a base model MacBookPro 14 inch with the m3 chip. I'm not a power user anymore so I'm thinking this will do fine.
I'm just wondering about a few things such as, is the M2 chip in the 15 inch MacBookAir that much less powerful than the M3 in the MacBookPro, and is the Air worth considering?
Then there is the external keyboard question. I need an external to minimize the impact on carpal tunnel and the Magic keyboards seem to have some features like touch ID, and keypad. I don't need the keypad, but the touch ID might be useful. Is touch ID worth the extra money? Currently I get by just fine with an old external apple keyboard with no features, but I don't know what the newest machines are like and what might be a real benefit.
I'd appreciate any helpful information you can give me on the latest and greatest from Apple Macs.
