Hi Donna, I know somebody said that you'll need a special international plan. What's their correct, you will need that in order to get service abroad. As well as those European adapters. But before you invest in a plan from the states to cover you in Italy. I would definitely check with your carrier to see if they cover international coverage. I know Spectrum it's like .1 cents per minute per text. And we get unlimited texting in certain countries. Joseph Hudson
