ET,
I think complications come from the original analog watches from the past
century. It is a term for other movements on a watch such as moon/sun phase,
date, etc. Usuallly these complications were built into the watch face and
driven by the same movement that gave the time of day. Perhaps because these
additional movements made the construction of a watch more complicated they got
their name for that reason? Maybe a consultation with Chat GPT might prove me
wrong, or at least close to the meaning.
