I might add here that if the app you added is something you'll be using a lot, 
definitely move it to somewhere near the left-hand side of the dock. Correct me 
if I'm wrong, but as you start and stop apps, the right-most app may move out 
of view and you have to re-add it. My sighted wife has experienced this a lot 
on her new iMac.

    An easy method is to launch an app, and then locate it in the dock,.

    Arrow up to access the menu, select Options, then right arrow. One of the 
options is  to add the app.

    One can also arrange apps on the dock by selecting an app then holding
