There are also modal dialogues on more Web sites these days than there used to be. They can acquire focus when you're simply reading Web content. You need to close the dialogue to resume reading. Often, fortunately, the VoiceOver cursor returns to where you were before the interruption. Amazon does not have this problem, though.

One of the items I noticed that you pointed out is that windows platform based browsers and JAWS seem to work almost seamlessly with amazon. That means they have pretty much decided to go with Microsoft centric javascript code, making it harder for any of us to use apple OS based devices and browsers.
