I have an iPhone XS. When it ceases to be supported by the latest iOS release, then the time to upgrade will have come.
The improvements in each new device are incremental, but they eventually become substantial enough to make upgrading worthwhile. Of course, other people have different upgrading schedules and priorities. I’ll get Apple’s image recognition features with my next phone purchase, and I’m in no hurry for that.
