That is exactly why one chooses a modifier key to use with a custom
gesture. Option,
command, Shift, or Control are the choices. Doesn't do the trick.

First step I took was to reset the custom commands to none. Then
followed the steps to add a new gesture. It looks like no one has
either been successful or simply has done done it.
