An M1 Mac is not that old, and shouldn’t be having an issue with a Sequoia
update.
I have 2 Macs with M1 processors and my wife has an M1 iMac. Neither of us has
had an issue with the 15.4 update.
Have you tried restarting your Mac and see if this does anything?
If prompted, I would attempt to do the update again.

I updated my M1 MacBook Pro to the latest Sequoia .4 which came out last week.
Ever since then I get a message that my Mac is restarting due to an error and a
very long numerical error which it sends to Apple. My warranty or Apple Care
ran out in January after I renewed it several times. I really didn’t want to do
a completely clean install all the way back to factory because I have quite a
bit of customization I may not be able to duplicate. And I’ve been told the
issue may come back once I go back up to .4 again anyway.

Does anyone have any ideas other than selling it cheap for use as a Linux
server?
