Actually, you can do a one-step process by using Terminal. The issue is that 
all the commands are readily available. Since Mac is based off of Unix, it 
provides the exact same options, which means that those familiar with Linux 
distributions will most likely be at home.

That is not actually the issue. The issue is that Mac OS X only provides access 
to the "Copy" shortcut via Finder, and the "Cut" command is not added in the 
GUI. I don't really understand why it is not. It is also kind of puzzling why 
the "cut" doesn't actually exist, and even when it does, not everywhere. That 
is ordinarily the same result "mv" would do when using Terminal. It would move 
the file from one location to another, and the file would be gone from the 
original location. It's kind of curious.
