Others may have shared this by now, only started reading.
Still, in theory, vo will not speak your password, nor is it, if memory
serves, displayed. This is a reasonably recent security feature, I
believe.
Still, if the password is being typed correctly, it should work.
Perhaps? reboot, and if still possible with sighted help, type your
password.
See if you get in this time.
