Compared to your current Mac with an Intel i7 processor, both M4 or M4 Pro will be a significant boost in speed. Obviously, the M4 Pro will be faster than the plain M4, but depending on what you plan to do with your Mac, it may not matter. Either will blow the doors off of your current Mac. As I always recommend, get as much Mac as your budget will allow, and remember that you cannot upgrade RAM or the size of the SSD, so you are stuck with what you get when you purchase a Mac.
