Hi E.T.,
I assume you are talking about creating a IOS shortcut. First you need to create a shortcut (or copy one you started) Then find the “Open file” action and double tab on it. This should add the open file action to your shortcut. When swiping around you should hear open file in app, and if you listen carefully File and app are spoken slightly differently for me. Now swipe down and it should say “edit file” or “edit app”. Double tap when it says edit file and then you get a new panel: At the top of the panel There is a heading that seems to default to “Recents” and a more button for sorting. The main part of the panel is a list of files. In the tab area at the bottom are three choices 1. Recent 2. Shared 3. Browse If you are creating a shortcut for a file you have recently looked at then the recent screen should suffice. Double tap the selected file and then you will be back on the list of actions. Now VO will say “Open filename in app” where filename is the name of the file you just selected. I’m not sure if you need to add an app or if it will just default. Now save things and perhaps add a siri phrase and you should be well along on your way. > On Jun 17, 2025, at 12:03 PM, 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries > <[email protected]> wrote: > > Ok I am looking at the Shortcuts app. I am unable to figure out how to > select the desired document.
