Hi Bill, I edit my signatures the exact same way. I'm not sure why editing doesn't seem to work in that field. I know in other cases where an edit field seems not to work sometimes restarting VoiceOver, or switching to another window and then switching back makes a difference. Admittedly, I haven't tried this with the signature pane because I always forget that it's broken until I need to actually change something and then I just need to get it done. Sorry I don't have more to offer in the way of a solution, but just know you're not the only one encountering this unfortunate behavior, there's at least two of us. :)
