Apple would only go with AMD for two reasons that I can possibly imagine:
1. To introduce lower cost Macs.
2. To offer something designed to their specifications that Intel cannot or
will not provide.

Any speculation at this time is just that and only Apple (some at Apple) know
what the purpose is. If they can get AMD to produce processors that marry up
with their graphics chips in a way that would allow APple to better leverage
those abilities, it might just make sense. I am sure AMD will not mind getting
a bit of business from Apple either, it would certainly help them out. The best
part of all this is we get to wait and see what comes of it. I have not kept up
with the AMD vs Intel wars of late, so really don't know who has the best of
what, but likely depends on what your looking for. Man I sure love technology.
