iOS 26.4 is out, and you should know that among its features, which Apple has not shouted about in its update notes for some reason which I can’t begin to imagine what it is, is age verification. You are asked to demonstrate that you’re an adult, or you can’t access content that’s 18+, or disable sensitive content warnings or restrictions. It goes without saying that I have nothing nice to say about this, however the issue for some of us will be the question of how to remove the restrictions. A warning will appear in Settings until the restrictions are removed, assuming you have an adult profile. During setup, you are given the opportunity to demonstrate your age, and you can skip it if you can’t do it then and there. At least you can complete the upgrade to iOS 26.4. I am lucky to have a credit card on file. If you do, the process is basically automatic. Debit cards aren’t accepted, however. It’s also easy if your Apple ID is, itself, older than 18 years. You can also enter a credit card by hand, which you don’t need to link to your account as a payment method. Potentially, this could mean getting the assistance of a trusting friend. I suppose few if any of us will have driving licences. Passports are not accepted yet. The only other form that is accepted, but which requires a tricky photo scan, is the Citizen ID card which you may have purchased in order to vote. I have not tried the process, but I suspect, given what I’ve read of it on Reddit, that it will be particularly painful for us, because it requires precise lighting and background conditions. I’d be interested to hear from anyone who manages this.
