Lorie: As others have suggested, I strongly suggest you go USB if you prefer a wired mic, or bluetooth for something untethered. I use both in different situations. Fyiw, I have:
* A Jabra Evolve 240 wired headset with one on-ear earpiece and a * swivel mic boom. It's my favorite device when on Zoom calls. * Swivle the mic up into my hair and I'm muted, and Voice Over * even announces "muted." Swivle it down and Voice Over announces * "unmuted." No more hunting around for the on screen mute * control! The sound is excellent, and my other ear is free to * hear Voice Over through my Mac's speaker. * For bluetooth I mostly use a Jabra T65. This is also a single * ear headset with a swivle mic. It also has excellent sound and * rests comfortably in one ear but doesn't occlude ambient sound * much, so I'm comfortable wearing it as the audio interface to my * phone when I'm out an about. It'll pair to multiple devices, but * I find it works best when I use with one at a time. Each of these two is under $100. So, you didn't explain your use case, but I suspect using adaptors and connectors to plug an analog mic into your one analog audio port is probably not the most satisfactory solution for what you're trying to do.
