For Windows, there's more merit to needing something, but I'd get stuff like
that from somewhere I've heard of. I get messages in Skype all the time
saying, your registry is corrupt, you must fix it now, all the while the
window says skype chat on it.

We use ClamXAV from time to time, just to make sure we don't pass on any
virused files to Windows users, but so far, we haven't found anything, but
then we don't open files we're not sure about.
