Hi, There is plenty of reason for tethering your iPad.
The money. You don't need to spend extra money on the 3G for the iPad, as your iPhone will provide the connection when you set it up properly. Of course, you might not want to tag both iPad and iPhone along, though, but that's your choice. I know it is actually possible to do this, because a sighted guy managed it. But I can't remember how to. I know it's probably pretty self-explanatory.
