Main issues I've had with VMware is RAM and disk speed. I'm just running XP so with 1GB RAM given to XP out of 3GB on my Macbook it's fairly reasonable performance. Fusion 3 should be even faster than Fusion 2, depending on what you're doing. VMWare/WindowsXP does pound my hard drive for a few minutes after booting up or resuming from sleep. Not sure what the culprit is but after a few minutes everything settles down and Jaws seems to be usable. Parallels (last I checked) was not accessible at all and Virtualbox only minimally. At least with the command line interface on virtualbox you can do pretty much anything the GUI can (and some things the GUI can't - like compress disk images).

Except it is bloody slow.

I am getting sick of it and it's speed issues.
Infact, Virtual box is a lot better for speed it just lacks on
accessibility.

I didn't notice a reply to this one.

You'll pay $40 or more to get Parallels so might as well upgrade to Fusion
3. It also seems to be the best of the bunch on a number of fronts.

I had a copy of VMWare Fusion, but wasn't willing to pay the $40 upgrade fee for Version 3. VirtualBox doesn't seem to be working. One quick note is that I'm a magnifier user, so I don't have to worry about VoiceOver too much. Does anyone know of a good emulator I could use? I've considered Parallels, but haven't had any experience with it. Also, it should be noted that using VMWare Fusion, I was able to seamlessly use the Macintosh Zoom utility inside of the virtual machine without any problems, so being able to do that on the new one would be a must. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
