The site has put their content into a proprietary encrypted container
made by Microsoft and only Microsoft can provide the decoder, which they
have chosen not to do for the Mac. Seems like an intentional
incapacitating of a competitor's platform.

Thanks Chris, the free stuff works fine with Flip, however it's the
materials with the DRM component that don't' seem to.

Subject: Re: Windows media streams on a mac
You can probably do it with Flip4Mac which allows adds the WMV codec to
QuickTime. Only limitation is that it can't play any encrypted (DRMed)
content since Microsoft has not released how this works. I tried it on
the Free Video for your page and it seemed to work. I had a lot of
Safari Busy messages but eventually found a Content Frame. I had to
simulate a mouseclick and then I could hit space to start and stop the
video.

Greetings all,
I have been subscribed to a website for many years which offers content
using some kind of windows-media based streaming. Of course, this is
inextricably linked to Windows, and (as we all know) Microsoft haven't
done
anything on Mac for years with their media player. When I try to log onto
the site, I can't do so as I get an error "cannot find Windows Media
player,
or plug-in has not been detected". (I'm paraphrasing)
Is there any way to play such content on a Mac? I'd like to find out
before
cancelling the subscription. It’s a site (www.mu.tv) that provides live
audio commentary from all Manchester United games.
Thanks for any insights,
Dónal
