Funny you should mention that.  In my Apple training, my trainer always tries 
to give me a good visual description of the screen and where things are.  In 
that way, I'm learning to have a sense of where and how I'm interacting with 
the screen.  The learning is so much more fun this way.

  As for the structure, each main program or webpage I use on the
  tutorial will have a brief visual description of what is actually on
  the screen and were are things llocated, such as were the search bar
  is, were the dock is located, were is the tree view in a finder
  window, etc.  I believe that presenting a person with a visual
  description of the screen, will help hi./her better understand and
  memorize what he/she is doing.
