Ok, something i used to do before we cleaned mine, shut down the unit.
let the ram and processor clear out. then restart it and see if the
mail program causes the fan to run again. One of the good things and
bad things about a mac is you don't have to shut them down as often.
I have gone several days at a time with just shutting the lid when I
didn't want it running. maybe restarting it will help your problem.
good luck, Max

Oh transmit never used to cause that. the problem I think started
when I mounted an ftp site to disk and tried to coppy a 7 gig folder
over. since then it has not quit and I've rebooted and it will be
fine until I start mail and or transmit and keep running even with
them clossed but it will not do this if I am running skype, pythin,
clisk and nambu at the same time. Odd eh?
Now the only thing I can see here is all of my folders now are on my
imap server but I don't see that beeing the issue.
Take care.

hello; then it is still within the first 90 days. I don't think
you should be experiencing those kinds of problems yet. My ftp
client, cute ftp, doesn't cause the fan on my mac book to run like
that. I don't have protect mac any more because my trial expired,
but it used to cause that. the only other program i have that does
it is max 8.0 when converting .og files to .mp3 files. wish i
could be more help. good luck, max

hello; how long have you had your mac? sometimes the fan will
run more if the venting on your machine is clogged with dust and
dirt. You might want to try cleaning them with some compressed
air. I did it on mine a while back. well, had my brother do it
actually. but since then mine only runs when my anitvirus
program is running a full sweep. hope that helps, max

I'm still trying to figure this out but I've got it down to mail
and my ftp client.
I turn them on and my fan runs hot, or shall I say my fan runs
and won't quit. I have to shut it down and not run mail or my
ftp client or listen to it all day. what could be causing this?
Thanks.
