There are so many areas of computer science and programming that it's hard to say just one platform is going to cover them all. Nice thing with the Mac is it is Unix underneath and with VMWare you can run Windows. So you can have the three main platforms on one box/laptop. Beyond that it depends on what you're going to develop. Many lanugages are platform agnostic like C, PHP, Perl or Javascript while others from Microsoft will only be happy on Windows. If it were me I'd get a good foundation of C and everything else will rhyme a lot. If you're going towards web stuff you'll want PHP and/or Java along with the client-side stuff like HTML, CSS and Javascript. Have fun!
