Hi,

Currently, you can obtain the status of a Skype contact through the Skype API
itself, but there is currently no way within the Skype application to do this
directly from the contact list as far as I know. A nice little utility called
CLISK will do this for you, however, as well as adding a lot of other features
that are currently unavailable within the GUI. Essentially, the status is
available within the contact list, of course, but VoiceOver just does not read
it which I suspect is mainly due to it being another graphical icon.

As for changing your mood message, this is easy to do. Find the "Edit Profile"
button in the Skype main window, then hit tab once. You'll see an edit field.
Type what you want your mood message to be, then simply leave the field and it
will be updated.

Regards,
Nic
