44.1 KHZ is old news circa 1988 or so.  It's all about 96 and 192 KHZ now on 6 
or 11 channels.

Honestly, 44.1 is a little slow on the sample rate side.  Old man Niquist bites 
you in the back side at the high end of the frequency range.  You want at least 
10 points per wave of samples if not a lot more.  (more is better)  Otherwise 
you get wicked saw tooths and squares.
