You'll need ProTools hardware to use ProTools. In other words, you cannot run ProTools through your laptop's sound card. This is how Protools works.
There is a list of supported hardware on the ProTools site and the hardware is available at a good music store. For a basic setup, you can use an M-Box which has a mic input on it and allows you to plug in headphones or listen with speakers.
