Does your system have an SD card slot? I know for example that the MacBook does not while the MacBook pro does. If you have an SD slot then there is no reason to connect the stream to the computer. In fact, you will find that transfers go much faster if you just insert the card. There is a button in the fusion window to add the card reader to your virtual machine.
If you do not have a SD slot, there are USB card readers that don't cost very much at all. For some reason, even using the card through one of these usb attachments seems to be much faster than connecting the stream. Hope this is helpful.
