Hi Marketoe, The HD is just like any other item on the Desktop and can be renamed by navigating to it, pressing return which will make it editable, then retyping Macintosh HD as the name for the volume. This could be accidentally done as well if you have the HD selected then press the return key on it. Another method to rename an item is to select it, press cmd-i to Get Info on it, then navigating to the Name and Extension field and renaming it from there.
