Also, in the preferences, make sure that spacebar rewinds play head is checked. Reason being is that when you hit stop, the play head will always go back to where the insertion point is. By default, the spacebar acts as pause, which is extremely annoying when trying to pinpoint a spot to begin your edit. Note however that when using the arrow keys while playing only moves the playhead and not the insertion point. So if you are playing and using the arrow keys to audibly scrub through a track and you hit stop, the playhead will jump back to the beginning of the file. The most practical way to do this is to use the right and left arrows while the file is stopped, hit play every so often to audition your spot, and make your selection when you've found it. This is more like how Soundforge and goldwave worked on the windows platform. I hope this is of assistance to you.
