Relaunch iTunes or reboot your machine. I find this solves problems. 5 to 10 minutes per CD sounds a little long, but with error checking/correction, the time will be longer to account for missing or corrupted data on the CD. CDs with scratches and smudges may read slower too.
There may be options in the Preferences you need to check and double check if you're being prompted for an import location.
