I can't speak to the Bookport specifically since I don't own one but I'd say 
it's easier to copy the files to the sd card in either your Mac's card reader 
or an external one connected via usb port.  Any sdhc card reader should work.  
You can buy one of them for less than $10 usually.
Audible files do work on the Mac but you need to register using Itunes.  If 
that doesn't bother you then no problem
As for the sdhc card a 32 gig one should work well with any card reader 
connected to the Mac so buy whichever card is recommended for the Bookport.
Not sure of the prices of the cards these days but I think it's under $100 now. 
 I paid about $140 but that was about three years ago then they first came out.
Think that covers it.
