Hi Samuel, I was thinking about your predicament as I read your post. Is it possible you could look for a used display instead of shelling out the thousands it would cost to purchase a new display? Just a thought. I find that my reading ability only increased when I started reading more. I have been blind since I was three-years-old, I don't know if that helps. But I think if your eye condition is gdegenerative, having a Braille display will open up a whole new tactile world to you. Do you want a notetaker or just a Braille display? THe displays without the notetaking capability are much less expensive. I've heard that APH makes a nice display, with concave cells. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Handytech Braillino. I hope I have helped. I also read with my left hand almost exclusively. I have calluses on my hand from guitar and started using it more and more often to combat the calluses. Now my left is more sensitive than the right. Have a wonderful day.
