I installed and uninstalled skype three times, the fourth time I tried
the older version and that made my issues go away. When it mounts, you
should see that as an external harddrive or CD/DVD, if you use
VO+shift+M you get the context menu and one of the options in there is
"eject", click that and it's gone from the desktop. Maybe an app like
app trap or trash me does all that stuff for you (I wouldn't know,
having not tried one of those).
Keep in mind it is a completely different operating system and it does
have a learning curve, so noone can really get familiar with it within a
few days.
