I know two people that got a Pearl and sent it back. Like a flatbed
scanner it seems to not like anything that wasn't completely flat and
consequently screwed up the OCR proces into unreadable gook. Getting the
orientation right for scanning seemed to be another issue for them. OK,
so it can scan at a nice speed, but that's completely void if you can't
get the orientation under the camera right. To me it seems you can get a
working scanner and OCR program for quite a bit cheaper than just the
price of the Pearl regardless if it's in mac or windows.
