I expect that you have headers disabled in your mail messages since
that appears to be the recommendation of a few folks on this list.

f this is th case I recommend the following based on memory... (My Mac
is 20 miles away right now)
1. Command-Shift-H (turn on headers for current message.)
. Look between the Headers and the body of the message, and you should
find a attachment area.  There is a save button here.
When you click the save button, it will have a pull down list to
choose the attachment to save.

Onceslected the standard save-as dialog box appears.

You could also do the following which is not quite as elegant.

1. Click the quick look button if you want to save the document after
viewing, then it will
 be in your"Library/Mail Downloads" directory. Copy as you want from there.
