Hi! It may just have been your connection between Dropbox. Patience is usually the key. Also, check right next to the mute button. That displays the current length. When that displays, you know the file has loaded properly.
To download the file, you can usually just go to your location bar (Command-L), then hit Option-Return. I'm sure you could do it from the file menu as well, but I always found this quicker to ensure it downloads.
