You may already know this, but, if you turn the brightness down all the way your battery may last even longer, you will need to do this each time, since it won't let you save a screen brightness of zero percent, but, each time you fire up, press either F1 or function F1, depending on if your function keys are set for hardware or software functions until it says brightness 0 percent. On my macbook, I get about 14 hours by doing this. Note that this is different than just using the screen curtain in voiceover, the screen curtain does not compltely turn off the light on the display.
