Hi Linda.
I'll just add that the reason for this "All Mail"-folder is that this folder is where all mails ends when you click Archive when using the web-interface in gmail. I don't know how much you know about how gmail handles mail, but in short, the folders is known as labels. When a mail is found only in "All Mail", it means that it has no labels. Inbox for example, is a label, like the one you have called Macvisionaries when using Google terminology.

Carolyn,

Now why didn't I think of that. I've used command A for other purposes. The
folder is now empty. Thanks again.

Hi Linda:
Find that all-mail mailbox. Go over to messages. Interact with messages, go to subject.
Do command A to select all, and press delete. VO should then say, "no rows
selected."

Subject: Apple Mail and Google

Hi everyone,

Today I noticed my top level Gmail mailbox was collapsed. When I expanded it I found
over 6,000 messages in my "All Mail" folder. Of course, the very same messages
had already been in my Inbox or my Macvisionaries mail box and had already been read and
deleted.

Is there a way to delete all of them in one fell swoop. When I switched to
thread mode, there are still over 1,000. I checked the menus and elsewhere but
found nothing to empty a specific mailbox?

Also, is it possible to just prevent messages going to 2 mailboxes at the same time or
delete this "All Mail" mailbox or is that not advisable?

As always, thanks for your information and advice.

Linda
